What's new?

Checkout Session Timeout

We've implemented a checkout session timeout system to enhance the booking experience for your customers and ensure secure transactions throughout the booking process.

What's New:

  • Customer checkout sessions now automatically expire after 1 hour of inactivity across all booking stages

  • Clear notification displayed when customers attempt to continue an expired session

  • Enhanced security during the payment form stage, where card details section becomes hidden upon expiry

  • Simple refresh process for customers to restart their booking at any stage

How It Works: When your customers are making a booking and haven't interacted with the page for 1 hour, their checkout session will expire. This applies to both the initial booking stages and the payment form.

During booking selection: If customers attempt to continue after the session expires, they'll see: "Your Checkout Session has expired, please refresh."

During payment: When the payment session expires, customers will see: "Session expired, please refresh the page" and the card details section will be hidden for security.

In both cases, customers simply need to refresh their browser page to start a new session and continue with their booking securely.

Benefits for Your Business:

  • Ensures customer booking information remains secure throughout the entire process

  • Enhanced security during payment processing with PCI compliance standards

  • Prevents confusion from outdated pricing, availability, or session data

  • Protects against potential payment processing errors

  • Provides clear guidance to customers when sessions expire

  • Maintains data integrity throughout the complete booking journey

This update is now live across all Collins booking platforms and payment forms, requiring no action from your team.
